This photo was taken at North Pool, Parker River NWR, on July 26, 2004, by Phil Brown. The refuge staff is proposing to breach the North Pool dike which will destroy North Pool, replacing it with salt marsh. If this happens the endangered Least Bittern will be placed under even greater survival pressure.
